Saubhik Chakrabarti, Associate Executive Editor, Economic Times. Chakrabarti has been in senior editorial positions in major national media outlets. He was Resident Editor, Delhi, The Statesman, Economic Editor, Hindustan Times, and Group Editor, Indian Express, before joining ET. In 2009, he won the best commentator award in the prestigious Goenka Journalism Awards.
Chakrabarti completed his post graduate studies in economics from JNU with a first class, and after a stint teaching economics in Delhi’s prestigious St Stephens College, he received the INLAKS scholarship for pursuing further studies at Oxford University, UK. He received his MPhil degree from Oxford. In ET, he launched and edited the revamped Sunday ET edition in magazine format, widely considered to have been an editorially superior product. ET’s Sunday Magazine has now established itself as a credible, interesting and muchpraised Sunday reading option, and has considerably added to ET’s overall brand.
As the second-most senior member of ET’s leadership team, Chakrabarti, along with fellow editors, is now responsible for guiding one of the world’s largest business newspapers, which is distinctive from most of its peers by, among other things, its extensive and sharp coverage of national politics. Chakrabarti was part of the senior team that launched “Pure Politics”, ET’s branded and much-lauded political reportage and analysis.
