Sumit Sawhney comes with over 24 years of automotive excellence and spearheads Renault’s operations in India and SAARC countries. He is part of the Board of Directors Committee & Region Management Committee of the Africa-Middle East-India (AMI) region of Groupe Renault. His key responsibility is to lead the group operations and activities, with functional and strategic decisions to achieve the growth plans outlined for the Indian Subcontinent Operations, which plays a significant role in the expansion strategy of Groupe Renault.
He has worked across numerous roles with exposure to various automotive markets across the globe, actively contributing to global marketing strategies. He keenly follows the currents that shape automotive progress and has a clear vision to build the future of Renault’s Indian Subcontinent Operations.
Under his leadership, the brand has consistently set new benchmarks in the Indian automotive industry with the launch of Renault KWID, Duster and Captur. Renault is currently pursuing an aggressive growth strategy in India and has also entered new businesses in the last few years in the automotive space, to best serve the Indian customer. Prior to joining Groupe Renault, he was part of a major transition at a US automotive company, which saw its sales surge significantly in India. He has worked extensively with teams in South Asian countries, and has also been responsible for commercial operation activities, field operations, brand management as well as investor and partner affairs.
Other than his passion for automobiles, he is actively involved with humanitarian projects, and he also keenly pursues his interest for aviation in his personal time.
