Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Zomato
Deepinder Goyal is one of the most prominent faces in the food-tech industry. He is the founder of one of the largest food aggregator in the world – Zomato. Under his leadership, the start-up that began as a platform for restaurant review and discovery in Delhi-NCR has grown into a company synonymous with food in 550+ cities in India and 24 countries across the world. Every month, 70 million users use Zomato to find great restaurants which suit their preferences and budgets.
Zomato today is 11+ years young, empowering an entire ecosystem with food delivery and unique dining out experiences while also focusing on sustainability in the sector with products such as Hyperpure enabling clean produce to restaurants and ensuring the right disposal of Used Cooking Oil. With a long-term vision of ‘better food for more people, Zomato also distributes over 1.6 million meals a month to the underprivileged with Zomato Feeding India, thus tackling hunger and food wastage at a large scale.
Prior to founding Zomato in 2008, Deepinder worked as a management consultant with Bain & Company. It was at Bain that Deepinder conceived the idea of an online restaurant information service.
Deepinder graduated with an Integrated Masters in Mathematics and Computing from the IIT-Delhi in 2005
