The Saint-Gobain Group in India

Saint-Gobain entered India in 1996. Over the years, the Group has made significant investments in India and has achieved strong and profitable growth. Today, it is a leader in all its major businesses. In India, Saint-Gobain is a brand that is respected and widely recognized. Currently, Saint-Gobain has a Pan-India presence with 25 manufacturing sites , sales offices in all the cities and major industrial towns and an extensive dealer network.

Two large entities, Grindwell Norton Limited (GNO), a publicly traded company, and Saint-Gobain India Pvt. Ltd. (SGI) house Saint-Gobain’s businesses in India. The Group currently operates in two of Saint-Gobain’s business sectors: Innovative Materials and Construction Products.

Research & Development:

Saint-Gobain Research India (SGR India) houses the group’s 7th cross-functional R & D center globally. It supports and develops existing and new businesses in India and provides and nurtures future talent for the Group in India. SGR India collaborates with local universities and external partners to produce solutions for sustainable habitat in hot-humid climates. This Centre develops transversal competencies including academic partnerships and interfaces with other R & D centers across the world to accelerate business growth. In January 2016, SGR India moved into its permanent home in the IIT Research Park in Chennai. The new Research Centre is a world-class R&D facility spread over 120,000 sq. ft.
