Based in Mumbai, India, Sharmila Karve is the Global Diversity & Inclusion Leader, PwC India and has been associated with the firm for over two decades now. She was admitted to the partnership in May 1997and is one of the youngest partners to be promoted after just 6 years of post-qualification working experience. After becoming a partner she worked as engagement partner on various large Indian and multinational clients. She was the first female partner to be elected to the POC and to be appointed as the Chief Ethics Officer.
In 2009, Sharmila was appointed as the Assurance Leader of the firm. She navigated the Assurance practice through one of the most difficult times in the history of the firm. She and her partners were able to keep PwC’ clients, staff and partners together and this according to her is her biggest achievements. She took over the Assurance Risk & Quality Leader role in April 2012.
In her new role as Global Diversity Leader since December 2016, Sharmila focuses her efforts on bringing more diversity throughout the PwC network.
